Coinciding with the launch of the redesigned Clio, French prime minister Dominique de Villepin and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn signed a local partnership agreement on employment at the Flins plant in France on Friday which will create jobs in a country where the unemployment rate is around 10%.

Under the agreement, 200 people will be hired on open-ended employment contracts at Flins in 2006, in addition to 350 employees taken on in 2005.

The agreement also seeks to facilitate labor market entry, provide professional training and help find sustainable employment for temporary staff on assignments lasting between six and 18 months.
