PSA Peugeot Citroen is declining to comment on speculation linking former Renault COO, Carlos Tavares, as a replacement for Philippe Varin as CEO.

Speculation continues as to PSA’s retention of its 57% stake in French supplier, Faurecia, as well as to the future of its production line at Mulhouse in the east of the country, which has seen volume dip below 250,000 units.

“We did not wish to comment on this – I have absolutely no comment to make,” a PSA spokeswoman told just-auto from Paris.

Tavares left Renault suddenly in August to pursue personal projects, with his departure following reported comments he could potentially consider a top job at at a US automaker.
