PSA Peugeot Citroen says it will offer what it terms an “inter-generational contract” for up to 3,500 employees in France who wish to leave by 2016.

The scheme – which will run in tandem with hiring an unspecified number of young people – will apply to those staff from 52-54 years old and is within the framework of last year’s social contract.

“Within the new social contract, we have said senior employees can have what we call [an] intergenerational contract,” a PSA spokeswoman told just-auto from Paris.

“This can be for 2,500 – 3,000 people. Philippe Dorge [PSA EVP human resources] said if we can reach up to 3,500, we will, but it it is within the next three years.

“This deployment of the PSA intergenerational contract that provides for senior level can affect 2,500-3,000 employees over the three years, but it could be 3,500 if we find them.”

The French automaker added it was also hiring staff on ‘work study schemes’ but details of these numbers are not yet available.
