Pininfarina, Cecomp, Véhicules Electriques Pininfarina-Bolloré and Bolloré have signed an agreement for car production for Autolib’s car sharing service in France.

The deal – that is subject to union agreement – will see Pininfarina lease production of 4,000 vehicles to Cecomp.

The cars will form part of the vehicle sharing service due to start in Paris from this October as well as 40 other municipalities in the Ile-de-France district.

“This contract will be effective upon completion of the trade unions consultation procedures and will be in effect until 31 December 2013, for a total value of EUR14m,” (US$19.5m) said the company in a statement.
