PSA Peugeot Citroen’s new boss Philippe Varin, who joined the French company last month to replace ousted CEO Christian Streiff, has stamped his mark on the company with a number of key appointments.

Former Peugeot head Frederic Saint-Geours replaced Streiff appointee Isabel Marey-Semper as head of finance. Saint-Geours has also been briefed to look at PSA’s strategic development.


Newcomer Jean-Marc Gales, appointed head of Citroen in February after a career with BMW and Opel, has taken overall charge of both Peugeot and Citroen brands in a new role. He will also have operational control of the Peugeot brand.


Frederic Banzet has taken operational control of the Citroen brand, reporting to Gales, while Marey-Semper will stay on as an adviser to Varin.


Head of Peugeot Jean-Philippe Colin, another Streiff appointee, has left the executive committee.

Varin, 56, led steelmaker Corus Group from May 2003 until his appointment as Peugeot Citroen CEO last March.


At his first shareholders earlier this month, he said PSA was open to partnerships to spur growth and reduce
dependence on western European sales.
