This year’s Paris Motor Show sees the European debut of the Shogun Pinin five door Sports Utility Vehicle. With its introduction, Mitsubishi has further strengthened its hold on the SUV I market by adding a five door to the popular three door version and has also maintained the option of either manual or automatic transmission to broaden customer appeal.
The Shogun Pinin five door makes its UK debut at the Birmingham International Motor Show next month before going on sale in the UK on 1 January 2001. Like its smaller brother, the five door has been styled by Pininfarina and will be built in Italy.

has a newly developed 2.0 litre GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine and Mitsubishi’s SS4-i 4WD system which gives it formidable 4×4 ability. This is unlike most other 4WD systems in this class of vehicle which offer only full-time 4WD or limited ability 4WD.
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK anticipates that the vehicle will attract both urban and country dwellers alike, especially those with families who want a compact, trendy, comfortable 4WD with seating for five. Available either with a manual or automatic transmission, Mitsubishi anticipates the high performance of its advanced automatic gear box will be a popular choice with city dwellers, whereas the manual will be suited to a traditional countryside working role.
Prices and UK specification will be confirmed at the British International Motor Show in October and sales in the UK will start from 1 January 2001.
Other vehicles on the stand include Mitsubishi’s 4WD innovative all terrain 4WD for the future, the Mitsubishi SUW Active which has a 2.0 litre GDI turbo engine and the latest versions of the Mitsubishi Carisma, Space Star, Galant, Evolution VI, Shogun and Shogun Sport.
