Renault’s Digital Marketing department has used Twitter to partly reveal the third generation Twingo, with a camouflaged car having its covering peeled off one panel at a time.
As expected, the new model looks similar to the Twin’Run concept which premiered at the Monaco Grand Prix in May 2013. Unlike the current X44 Twingo, the next one, codenamed X07, will be rear-engined, rear-wheel drive and is a five-door hatchback.

The public will see the new model for the first time at next month’s Geneva motor show, with production at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia set to commence in the autumn.
Despite disappointing sales of existing Renault EVs, a Twingo Z.E. is also expected, with this car looking something like the Twin’Z, a design study of a future plug-in model which was revealed in 2013.
The Twingo and its Z.E. derivative have been co-developed with Daimler as part of an attempt to revive smart. The city car specialist division is set to add a four-door model which will be built in the same plant as the Renaults, and there should be a plug-in version too. The same ‘Edison’ architecture is also believed to be the basis for the next smart fortwo.
