France is to extend availability of its so-called ‘green loans’ to low-carbon manufacturers into next year.
The loans were due to end at the end of 2010, but French industry minister Christian Estrosi said he would now extend the deadline into 2011.

“Several green loans for low-carbon vehicles have already been allocated in tandem with industrialisation projects,” said Estrosi.
“I am announcing that we are going further. The green loans were due to end at the end of this year, but I have decided to prolong them in 2011. [Some] EUR108m (US$151m) in loans have been given up until now – the total is fixed at EUR250m, which leaves us EUR142m of loans to allocate.”
The industry minister also announced the ‘Strategic Committee for the future of the Automobile’ would change its name to become the ‘Strategic Committee of the Automobile Industry.’
The committee would bring together industry stakeholders such as manufacturers, component makers, sub-contractors, R&D centres and social partners.
