Faurecia may rush to buy the German assets of bankrupt engineered plastics supplier Plastal, according to media reports.

Worried carmakers have asked Faurecia and other potential investors to look at buying the German assets. Intensive negotiations over the sale of Plastal’s German assets are continuing. Carmakers are concerned about supply disruption.
“We are negotiating like world champions,” Siegfried Beck, administrator of Plastal Germany, told Reuters on Tuesday.
Under current plans, the French firm will likely buy five of Plastal’s six plants in Germany. Faurecia will also take over the French and Spanish activities of the bankrupted company.
