Renault is recalling some some early-build Romanian and Russian-built Renault/Dacia Logan sedan models after some cars were affected by premature corrosion.

In a statement, Renault said it is “preparing to carry out a service operation which will allow [the brands’] customers to take advantage of the latest technical improvements carried out in their plants.”
The recall affects cars built in Romania and Russia up until the end of 2006. Dealers will carry out an anti-corrosion inspection, make any needed repairs and inject additional protective wax into affected areas.
The company said it had learned of some cases of rust in the back wheel arch of some cars caused by water ingress, “as a result of manual operations which were not correctly carried out during the manufacturing process (putty application and/or the positioning of a plug)”.
“The necessary corrective actions have been carried out in-plant, to ensure the best manufacturing quality, especially during putty application, an operation which requires dexterity,” the automaker added.
Owners of affected cars will be notified by letter.
