Versions available will include a sporty VTR version and the four seat C2 features a range of bright, modern design schemes, including orange, blue and green, for the colour-coded trim and matching coloured translucent gear lever knob and armrests.

Sliding and folding rear seats allow greater interior versatility and the car also has a split tailgate with glass hinged like a hatchback and a drop-down lower tailgate with its own storage compartment.

Customer reaction to this will be interesting – it was tried by Honda for the 1992-1996 Civic three-door and universally panned.

Available technology will include automatic air conditioning, electronic parking assistance, remote stereo controls, multi-adjustable steering wheel, onboard computer, light-sensitive headlamps, rain sensitive windscreen wipers and overspeed warning.

Safety equipment includes ABS with EBD and EBA, automatic hazard warning lights, ESP and traction control.

The C2 will have up to 110bhp on tap in the 1.6-litre VTR model and 1.4 Hdi diesel and 1.1 and 1.4 petrol engines will also be on offer as well as the optional automated manual SensoDrive paddle-shift gearbox.
