The French car market edged up with a 0.5% year-on-year gain in January. New car registrations for the month totalled 125,477 units.
In a statement the CCFA also said that the number of working days in the month – 22 – was the same as last year.

The small gain in the month points to a continued, if slow, recovery from the low points of the middle of last year.
The CCFA maintained its forecast for a stable to slightly higher French car market this year.
Renault’s domestic sales rose 12.4% to 34,151 cars in January, boosted by new models and still rising sales for its Dacia brand. PSA Peugeot Citroen was up 6% at 40,127 units.
