Faurecia looks unlikely to lead any wave of consolidation that takes place in the supplier industry on the back of the current economic crisis.

CEO Yann Delabriere  told WirtschaftsWoche the current crisis would accelerate the process of concentration amongst suppliers.

“Only those that have the means to follow automakers into new markets around the globe while investing in research and development at the same time will be able to survive.”

However, he added that Faurecia already had a leading position in seating, exhaust gas treatment systems, cockpits and other interior parts such as doors, and therefore did not need to acquire.

“Acquisitions are not our priority… an improvement in the financial situation is for us the first priority,” Delabriere said.
