Ford said it would create 2,000 new jobs and spend US$1.3bn at its Kentucky Truck Plant for the launch of the redesigned 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty truck.
The models are top end versions for serious tradesmen and the chassis-cowl variants often underpin small tour buses popular in the US.

That $1.3bn will go on a new body shop, facility upgrades and retooling to build the now aluminium-bodied Super Duty. Ford spent $80m on the plant in 2014.
The factory produces F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty pickups and chassis cabs, as well as Ford’s Expedition and Lincoln Navigator large SUVs. Kentucky has produced more than five million Super Duty units since the line was introduced in 1999.
Sales of the redesign start late in 2016.
