As speculation of possible spin offs continues, Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) has said in a statement that it evaluates incoming 'inquiries for strategic transactions'.

The statement appears to send a message that it would consider interest for its brands from outside interests. Great Wall is said to have considered approaching FCA for its Jeep brand, but has yet to make a formal approach.

"From time to time, FCA may receive inquiries on strategic transactions and will evaluate such inquires consistent with its duties to stakeholders," FCA said in  statement issued today in response to 'market rumours'.

Bloomberg reported earlier this week that FCA is considering options including a plan to spin off the Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands as well as components operations.

FCA said it 'has no further information to report in response to market rumours beyond its statement already issued on August 21' [which was reacting to speculation that Great Wall could be interested in acquiring the Jeep brand].

FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is reportedly working on a final five-year business plan before he leaves FCA in 2019. He has confirmed that FCA would consider selling off parts of the business as it looks to streamline operations and eliminate over EUR4bn of outstanding debt.
