Efforts will begin this week to save up to 250 automotive components jobs in South Wales.
Last Friday, workers were told that Panasonic Electronic Devices in Baglan Moors, Port Talbot, would close this year and the work transferred to Asia and eastern Europe.
The company blamed the closure on increasing competition and price pressures which had led to significant losses.
It has now begun a 90-day consultation period with employees and their unions.
The highly automated plant has operated in South Wales since the late 1980s.
