Ford
and Land Rover are combining a special operation that quickly prepares and ships
vehicles to international aid organisations.
A company called Bakkehave has done similar work for Ford for some time and
Land Rover vehicles are now being added to the operation which will be based
in the English Midlands towns of Shipston-on-Stour and Wellesbourne in Warwickshire.
The company is recruiting 15 additional staff.

A Land Rover spokesperson said that that Bakkehave maintains a stock of ‘basic’
vehicles which are quickly ‘accessorised’ with equipment appropriate
for an aid organisation’s needs when disaster strikes and then shipped
by the fastest possible means.
The expanded operation will be ready in April.
