Technologies subsidiary Quantum Technologies has developed a compressed natural
gas (CNG) fuel system for the Opel-designed, Chevrolet-badged Zafira minivan
produced at General Motors’ Thailand Assembly Centre in Rayong province.
This coincidentally follows GM’s recent debut of a CNG fuel pack option
for the European-built Opel Zafira at February’s Geneva motor show.
The Thai CNG Zafira has a 115bhp, 1.8 litre engine and retains the original
petrol tank.

Recently GM Thailand announced that it had signed a letter of intent with the
Petroleum Authority of Thailand and the Ministry of Science, Technology and
Environment, for a pilot study to determine the viability of volume local production
of CNG-fuelled Zafiras.
Quoted in the Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition, GM said that Thailand
was the natural choice for the pilot study under its Global Alternative Fuel
Project because of its abundant resources of natural gas.
