Škoda’s global deliveries totalled 920,800 units in 2013, with the Octavia the top selling model series (359,600). This was closely followed by the Fabia, with 202,000 sales. The company’s main Mladá Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic will this summer begin preparations to begin building a new Fabia, which sources believe will be the first B-segment model to use a new variant of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture. Škoda is said to refer to its version of MQB as NQV. The next generation of the SEAT Ibiza should follow in 2015, and then a new VW Polo in 2017.

While the introduction of the SK260 series Fabia will help Škoda attain a million annual sales for the first time in its history, most likely in 2015, extra vehicles are nonetheless on the way to keep brand sales rising. One of these additional models will be an SUV. This will be closely related to the Volkswagen Touareg successor, just-auto has been told, and should therefore be due for market introduction in late 2015.
