Russia increased production of road vehicles 2.5% to 91,443 in January 2001
from 89,215 in January 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com
by AO Avtoselkhozmash Holding (ASM), an automotive association in Moscow.
Cars alone grew: up 6.7% to 76,519 from 71,725. Declines registered: 15.4%
for buses to 3,345 from 3,955; and 14.5% for trucks to 11,579 from 13,535. (Data
were unavailable for trolley buses.)

In 2000 versus 1999, auto production increased 2.2% to 1,209,782 from 1,183,217.
Each sector posted gains: 8% for buses to 53,761 from 49,782; 6.8% for trolley
buses to 393 from 368; 4.3% for trucks to 186,673 from 179,047; and 1.6% for
cars to 968,955 from 954,020.
