Sales of new road vehicles in Romania dropped 4.3% to 8,003 in June 2001 from
8,366 in June 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com
by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Cars fell 7.3% to 6,326 from 6,825, while commercial vehicles rose 9.1% to
1,634 from 1,498. Buses remained flat with 43 sold each year.

Year-to-date, sales still increased 13.3% for all vehicles to 42,606 in 2001
from 37,592 in 2000. Turnover expanded: 15.8% for commercial vehicles to 8,330
from 7,195; and 13.1% for cars to 34,106 from 30,149. Buses declined 31.5% to
170 from 248.

Decreases registered: 31.5% for cars to 66,276 from 96,765; and 16.9% for commercial
