Exports of road vehicles from Romania increased 9.0% to 1,316 in June 2001 from
1,207 in June 2000, according to provisional totals provided to just-auto.com
by the Association of Automobile Producers and Importers in Romania.

Cars rose 25.1% to 1,186 from 948, while commercial vehicles fell 49.8% to
130 from 259.

Year-to-date, exports expanded 5.6% for all vehicles to 6,133 in 2001 from
5,807 in 2000. Foreign sales rose 18.6% for cars to 5,783 from 4,877, yet fell
62.4% for commercial vehicles to 350 from 930. No buses were exported in the
period for 2001 or 2000.

In 2000 versus 1999, auto exports grew 241.9% to 9,368 from 2,740. The upturn
meant increases of: 278.2% for cars to 7,772 from 2,055; and 133.0% for commercial
vehicles to 1,596 from 685. No buses were sold abroad either year.
