Saab’s
9X concept car, shown in public for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show
today, is likely to make production according to Saab President and CEO Peter
Augustsson, writes just-auto.com deputy editor Graeme Roberts. "There are
no major technical obstacles to prevent this car going into production and I
hope the Saab 9X, or something like it, will come to the market," Augustsson
said.

Augustsson added that the 9X was based on a survey of potential customers’
needs and desires.

"This is something we have mapped in detail," he said. "The differences
between modern and individualistic premium car buyers on the globe are, in fact,
very small. We know that these people expect a lot from their cars." Augustsson
said that the 9X concept combines features usually associated with a coupe,
roadster, station wagon and even a pick-up.

"Our ambition with the 9X was to extend the boundary lines of automotive
taste and to come up with something exciting and genuine that offered driver-focused
performance."
