Production of road vehicles in Czech Republic grew 14.5% to 247,394 in first-half
2001 from 216,021 in first-half 2000, according to provisional results provided
to just-auto.com by the Automotive Industry Association there.

Cars, accounting for 96.6% of output, rose 20.7% to 239,086 in January-to-June
2001 from 198,003 in January-to-June 2000.

Otherwise, volume rose year-on-year: 36.8% for trailers to 826 from 604; and
6.5% for buses to 756 from 710. Totals fell: 63.3% for commercial vehicles to
5,235 from 14,269; and 38.8% for motorcycles to 1,491 from 2,435.

Increases tallied: 22.8% for cars to 428,223 from 348,751; and 11.0% for buses
to 1,409 from 1,269. Decreases amounted to: 15.6% for trailers to 1,292 from
1,531; 12.3% for motorcycles to 3,851 from 4,389; and 0.8% for commercial vehicles
to 25,849 from 26,064.
