PSA Group president Jean-Martin Folz has confirmed that the company will produce the Citroën C3 in Brazil.
PSA will start to produce the model at the end of 2002 in the Porto Real plant, in Rio de Janeiro state.
The plant was inaugurated last February and now makes the Citroën Xsara Picasso and the Peugeot 206 with a one-litre 16-valve engine made in Brazil by Renault.

Citroën do Brasil will launch the Brazilian-made C3 in the first half of 2003. With the help of the new model, Citroën expects to sell about 60,000 vehicles in Brazil in 2004.
The automaker expects to close this year with 18,000 vehicles sold in the Brazilian market.
The Citroën C3 will be equiped with the 1.6 16-valve engine that PSA will start to produce in Brazil next February, when it will inaugurate an engine plant also in Porto Real.
The C3 may also have the same one-litre engine that is fitted to the Peugeot 206 in Brazil.
