Peugeot
sold 15,354 vehicles in Brazil in the seven first months of 2001, an increase
of 34% over the 11,460 units sold in the same period of 2000, writes Rogério
Louro Alves.
In contrast, vehicles sales in Brazil to the end of July rose 22.3% compared
with the same period last year.

In July, Peugeot achieved its best monthly result since it entered the Brazilian
market in 1992 by selling 4,147 vehicles.
The locally-made 206 one-litre 16-valve model, launched at the end of June,
accounted for 3,653 units or 88.1% of the July sales.
Peugeot do Brasil expects to sell 38,000 vehicles this year, an increase of
77% on 2000s total. Last year, the French car maker sold 21,518 units.
