Peugeot do Brasil has borrowed a name previously used in Europe for its first limited-edition 206  – the Quiksilver, writes Rogério Louro.

The new model marks the first year of sales of the compact hatchnack line and offers two engine options: Renault’s one-litre 16-valve with 70 bhp or PSA’s 110 bhp 1.6-litre 16-valver, both, like the car, made in Brazil.

Peugeot Brazil expects to sell about 3,000 units of the 206 Quiksilver and 52,000 vehicles in total this year after selling 33,279 last year.

The 206 accounted for 90.8% of Peugeot sales in the first half of 2002.
