Rising
vehicle inventories prompted Brazilian car makers to reduce production by 6.8
percent last month compared with September, according to the Brazilian National
Automaker’s Association (Anfavea), writes Rogério Louro Alves.

Local manufacturers produced 127,912 vehicles during October compared with
September’s 137,263 units. Year-on-year production fell 13.2 percent.

However, sales of both locally-made and imported vehicles grew 10.6 percent
in October to 111,202 units compared with the 100,520 vehicles sold in September.
But year-on-year sales were off 15 percent.

Vehicle exports grew 8.7 percent to 38,379 vehicles compared with September
while year-on-year October shipments rose 17.4 percent.
