Volkswagen do Brasil will start exports of its Crossfox model to Europe in 2006. The car is a pseudo-offroad version of the uniquely Brazilian-built Fox compact hatchback.

The Crossfox is designed to look like a compact SUV with suspension height increased 53mm, bulkier bumpers with fog lights, a front bull bar, side bars and roof bars. The spare wheel is located on a support arm across the rear door. Despite its off-road looks, the vehicle has on-road tyres and is front-drive only.
Volkswagen not yet said which engines will power the Crossfox in Europe. In Brazil, the model has only a 1.6-litre flexfuel engine.
Volkswagen also plans to launch other Fox variants in Europe. In 2006 it will introduce a sports version, probably named Fox Sport, and also plans to sell a new station wagon version.
The station wagon will, however, be built in Argentina, where VW is now doing pilot production. The new model will be introduced in Argentina and Brazil in March 2006, and will be the first Fox model made outside Brazil.
