General Motors do Brasil has started to export its unique locally-made Opel Corsa-based Chevrolet Celta subcompact car to Argentina – as the Suzuki Fun, writes Rogério Louro.
The Argentine-specification car has a 70bhp one-litre, eight-valve engine and is produced in GM’s Gravataí plant, in Rio Grande do Sul state.
Introduced in Brazil in 2000, the Celta is the third best-selling vehicle in Brazil, with about 75% sold directly on the Internet making it the world’s leading web-sold car. But, in Argentina, only dealers will sell the model.
GM Brazil already exports the car, as the Chevrolet Celta, to Uruguay, Paraguay and some Central America countries.
