Airbag-equipped Palio, Palio Weekend and Siena models made between 1996 and
2000 are being recalled so dealers can replace the airbag electronic control
module. Tests have showed that some module components can corrode, inadvertently
triggering the airbag.

The same problem has prompted a recall of the Strada, the pick-up version of the Palio range, made between 1998 and 2001.

The airbag module fault affects 60,121 vehicles.

Uno-based Mille Smart and Fiorino models made in February and March this year are being recalled to check for faulty front seatbelt buckles which can unintentionally release the seatbelts. The fault affects 5,574 vehicles.

Last year, Fiat do Brasil recalled Palio, Palio Weekend and Siena models with the 1.6-litre, 16-valve engine to replace faulty fuel pipes.
