Argentine manufacturers produced 16,473 vehicles in April, up 47.7% on the 11,155 vehicles made in March, according to the national automaker’s federation (Adefa), writes Rogério Louro.

Compared with the 26,783 vehicles produced in April 2001, April 2002 production fell 38.5%.
Although April production grew, sales in Argentina fell 28.1% to 9,847 compared with 13,693 in March.
Compared with April 2001 when 15,754 vehicles were sold, sales last month fell 37.5%.
Export results were more promising with 11,090 vehicles shipped in April, a rise of 11.2% compared with the 9,976 exported in March.
But this was down 34.1% on the 16,830 vehicles exported in April 2001.
