US public fast charging network for electric vehicles, Evgo, has completed a two- month project to upgrade 21 of its stations in key California markets by replacing single-plug standard chargers with dual-standard versions, which include both CHAdeMO and CCS Combo connectors.

The selected stations are located in high traffic areas around San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, expanding access to more EVgo fast chargers. The project was completed ahead of schedule and helps serve more CCS-compatible EVs, such as the BMW i3, and Chevrolet Bolt.

According to The International Council on Clean Transportation, California leads the country in electric vehicle sales and in 2017 accounted for half of all EV purchases in the US.

“EVgo is making the electric vehicle charging experience as easy as possible for all drivers and today’s news we have added additional capacity at 21 California stations means EVgo’s network can power even more EVs,” said Evgo CEO, Cathy Zoi.

“The old world is changing and EVgo is rapidly expanding our network of over 1,000 public fast chargers across the US so more Americans can choose a better way to drive.”
