Electrify America is collaborating with Midwestern retailer, Meijer to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at nine of its stores across Illinois and Michigan.
The stations will offer a total of 36 ultra-fast public EV chargers, increasing the availability of public charging options in the greater Chicago area and throughout the State of Michigan.
With a station in Bloomingdale, Illinois, already open, the network plans to have all locations available for use by early 2021.
“Meijer supercentres are known for being convenient ‘one-stop’ shops for everything from groceries to apparel,” said Electrify America senior director of operations, Anthony Lambkin.
“By offering electric vehicle charging stations on-site, we are providing another amenity for customers who can charge their electric vehicles with our ultra-fast chargers while they shop.”
Electrify America chargers range in power from 150 kilowatt (kW) to 350kW, depending on location. An EV capable of accepting a 350kW charge can add around 20 miles of range per minute of charging.
