Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is facing a lawsuit from its Egyptian distributor that is complaining that it unfairly ended a distribution contract.

A spokesman told Reuters that MMC expected no impact from the lawsuit.

Masria Co has said in its lawsuit filed with an Egyptian court that Mitsubishi’s termination notice lacked reasonable grounds and demanded an extension of the contract or damages of USD900m.

MMC said it served a termination notice on Masria six months before the contract was due to expire, in accordance with agreed provisions.

“Mitsubishi Motors will strenuously fight this lawsuit,” it said in a statement.
