Following the breaking of a media embargo in recent days by multiple media, Toyota has issued an image of the Lexus LF-LC, a concept for the forthcoming North American International Auto Show.
This 2+2 coupe will be revealed on 9 January, the first press preview day. The LF-LC was designed by the Toyota and Lexus Calty design studio in Newport Beach, California. The car is claimed to be powered by what the Toyota division terms ‘Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive’, without noting any further details.

Toyota might well build a toned down version of the Lexus LF-LC concept as a follow-up to both the discontinued Lexus SC 430 and as the effective replacement for the LFA. Production of Lexus’ existing supercar is due to end in December 2012, by which time the stated 500 units will have been made. The LFA itself started life as the LF-A concept at the 2005 Detroit show.
Honda too will use the backdrop of the Detroit show to preview a new sports coupe for its premium division. Unlike the Lexus LF-LC, the Acura NSX concept is expected to be mid-engined. American Honda is yet to reveal anything more than basic information on the NSX concept.
