GM North America Mark Reuss has used a speech in Detroit to drop a strong hint that the Cadillac ELR extended range EV will have its global debut at the city’s annual motor show in January.

A request made to Cadillac’s media relations department for clarification on the issue saw a spokesman replaying with a quote from Mark Reuss’ recent speech at the Cobo Hall Convention Center in Detroit, also the site of the auto show: “We’ll pull the wraps off the production version [of the ELR] soon, at an auto show near you. Perhaps very near, if you get my drift.”

General Motors also recently confirmed that the car will be manufactured alongside the Chevrolet/Holden Volt and Opel/Vauxhall Ampera at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, from late 2013.
