With no fanfare whatsoever, Mercedes-Benz has slipped a partial image of a forthcoming BMW X6 rival onto its media website.
This additional model will be known as the GLE Coupé and built alongside the to-be-renamed M-Class at the Tuscaloosa/Vance plant in Alabama. The name is part of the new badging system whereby all SUVs begin with a G. All current ML- variants will in time become part of the future GLE-Class range.

No details concerning the GLE-Coupe have been issued to the press, though the vehicle’s dimensions should be similar to those of the Concept Coupé. This prototype was exhibited at April’s Beijing motor show. Daimler stated at the time that it was 4,935mm long, 2,208mm wide (with mirrors), 1,739mm high and with a wheelbase of 2,916mm.
