Denso International Europe has allocated an amount of EUR10,000 (US$11,300) to be used for the purchase of medical PPE and to support medical and academic institutions in the Netherlands, mainly TU Delft and the Erasmus Medical Centre Foundation.

TU Delft conducts COVID-19 research aimed at improving patient care, including the safe re-use of face masks, and the timely development of ventilators in order to meet urgent demand.

The Erasmus MC Foundation, on the other hand, focuses its research on recovery, studying treatments which may prove to be a viable cure for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and developing a vaccine that may prevent infection and future outbreaks.

Following Denso’s donation to the Erasmus MC Foundation, a fundraising page was also set up, enabling staff working at both the Denso Weesp and World Trade Centre Amsterdam offices to donate directly if they wish.

Elsewhere in Europe, Denso European companies have also shown support and solidarity through various efforts and initiatives.

Denso companies in Italy, which has one of the highest numbers of coronavirus cases in Europe, have extended financial support, with a total of EUR185,00 and PPE to help medical institutions and workers.

Besides producing face masks, Denso companies in Spain are also collaborating with a local engineering university to produce 3D-printed face-shields for medical workers and ventilators, which can be used in intensive care units.

Other initiatives and donations have been led by Denso employees across the region such as cleaning materials, PC donations to help with homeschooling during quarantine and support for the elderly and vulnerable groups.
