Other models on display will include the hybrid version of Chevrolet Volt and sports car Chevrolet Camaro, WTCC Cruze, Captiva Extreme, Spark Electric and Aveo CNG.

The Auto Expo, which is held once every two years, starts on January 5 in New Delhi.

Beat will have a petrol as well as a diesel engine and be the third-small car in GM’s stable, after Spark and Aveo U-VA. India will be the export hub for the Beat minicar.

The Beat is expected to be competitively priced in India, something that local analysts say is something that GM has failed to do in the past with other models – resulting in poor sales.
