Daimler's Mercedes-Benz sold 199,293 cars worldwide last month, increasing volume 4.9% year on year and setting a new October record.

The automaker said the was due largely to the recent launch of the A-Class saloon and GLC models.

Year to date sales rose 1% to 1,924,536 cars.

The company claimed premium segment market leadership in multiple countries for the year so far.

Mercedes Europe sales rose 1.3% to 81,017 units with Germanvolume up 5.3% to 30,763 and 5% YTD.

Asia-Pacific region deliveries increased 10.9% to 80,312 with China volume up 13.8% to 57,142 in and 5.8% to 583,032 YTD.

Compact model sales rose 9.8% to 546,100 units.
