Troska has been on the management board since December 2012 and his existing contract was due to expire at the end of December 2020.

Troska is CEO and chairman of Daimler Greater China and is responsible for all of the automaker's strategic and operating activities in China.

Daimler Greater China  was founded in Beijing in 2001 and is responsible for the activities of Mercedes-Benz cars, vans, trucks and buses, financial services, the spare parts business, and research and development centres.

China is the most important market worldwide for passenger car sales. Sales rose over 40,000 units in 2019 to 693,400 units, a new record.

The model initiative, a clear customer focus and a localisation strategy (such as Beijing Benz built long wheelbase versions) were key success factors.
