"Mercedes-Benz.io provides an important basis for a rapid response to international customer requirements and the creation of a digital experience world for our customers. To this end we systematically use agile teams of experts from marketing and sales, IT and Mercedes-Benz.io," said Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales' Britta Seeger.
The automaker plans to expand its new acquisition and further development of its own, in-house digital expertise.
A statement said: "The working emphasis of the new subsidiary company is on an optimised approach to customers in all digital channels. Initially this will encompass products and services in the areas of digital marketing and digital commerce. The focus is also on new digital services and extended business models.
"In the medium term the new subsidiary is to grow to a total of around 300 digital experts. With immediate effect, it is being reinforced with digital talents from all over the world in the Stuttgart, Berlin and Lisbon locations, from product owners, designers/conceivers, community and content managers to experts in business development, UX/UI, app programming, big data and analytics, Cloud computing, Java, Java-Script, AEM and SAP/hybris development."
