Citing local news website iDnes.cz, German News Digest said the automaker may introduce five extra shifts.


If it starts assembling cars on Saturdays it will need to hire 1,000 employees via recruitment agencies.


Currently, Skoda employs 600 temporary workers recruited via such agencies out of its total staff of 26,500.


Last summer, Skoda started reducing temporary personnel hired through recruitment agencies due to the global financial turmoil and declining demand. It then had 4,000 temporary workers.


The carmaker had planned to operate four-day production weeks this year but has resumed five-day operations.
