Passenger cars in the Czech Republic grew by almost 14% to 349,026 in the first quarter of this year, according to the Automotive Industry Association (SAP).
Output grew at Volkswagen group unit Skoda Auto and Hyundai Motor’s Hyundai Nosovice while the Toyota-PSA joint venture that makes Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota city cars – TPCA Kolin – booked a moderate decrease.

Skoda increased production 13% to 196,225 cars and Hyundai’s production jumped 46% to 83,217. TPCA saw a drop of 8% to 69,584.
Skoda maintained its market share at over 56%.
Meanwhile, production of vehicles of all categories in the Czech Republic rose by 13.2% to 355,458 units in January-March and exports increased 13.4%.
SAP said it expected new car sales in the Czech Republic to “significantly exceed” 1.2m this year.
