Jean-Martin Folz, Chairman of PSA Peugeot Citroën, and Fujio Cho, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, have officially broken ground for their joint plant in Kolin, 60 kilometers east of Prague in the Czech Republic. The ceremony was attended by Czech Prime Minister Milos Zeman, Mayor of Kolin Zdenka Majerova and several hundred guests.

Beginning in 2005, the Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech (TPCA) plant will manufacture 300,000 small cars a year, primarily for European markets. The total investment (research & development and business startup costs) is estimated at approximately 1.5 billion euro.


Masatake Enomoto has been appointed President of TPCA; Jacques de Raismes is Vice President.
