With seven plants at five different locations and over 3,400 employees, the Czech Republic is already the sixth most important country in Faurecia’s worldwide
industrial footprint.

A new plant will be opened in Karviná (Moravia-Silesia). This new facility will specialise in the production of exhaust systems. Expected to be operational in the first quarter of
2009, the new plant will employ 300 people.

Faurecia also said that it will ‘reinforce’ the Písek industrial site (South Bohemia). This new facility, inaugurated in November 2007 for the production of exhaust
systems, interior systems and seat structures, currently employs over 1,000 people and due to the ramp-up of production, will add a further 700 jobs by the end of 2009.

Fuarecia also announced the closure of the seat cover “cut & sew” activity (Lecotex). Lecotex manufactures seat covers from its two sites in Tábor (South Bohemia) and
Pocátky (Vysocina). The company said this labour-intensive activity is currently facing strong cost-based competition on a global level from North Africa and Asia. For this reason, Faurecia’s cut & sew business is no longer competitive in the Czech Republic and it has therefore been decided to shut-down this activity.

The two plants’ 564 employees will be offered jobs at other Faurecia sites in the Czech Republic, in particular in Písek and Karviná.

Following this development phase, by the end of 2009 Faurecia’s total headcount in the Czech Republic will grow from 3,400 to around 4,000 people, the company said.
