At a ceremony held in Beijing today, the governments of Sweden and China signed a letter of intent to expand their cooperation in the area of road safety.
The cooperation will take the form of a Swedish-Chinese research centre located in Beijing that will carry out activities in both China and Sweden, and in which the Volvo Group will be a partner.

The role of the Volvo Group will be to conduct research into the causes of traffic accidents and driver behaviour patterns in China.
China has one of the worst road accident casualty rates in the world.
