TRW said collaboration with Chery underlines its growing presence in the China automotive safety market. Engineers on three continents worked together to complete the application engineering process for the A520, a Chinese domestic vehicle platform.
The A520 also features TRW’s front calliper disc brakes and mechanically actuated booster and master cylinder.
The A520 is a mid-sized sedan that took Chery eight years to develop and is targeted to challenge established models from the likes of Toyota, Ford and Peugeot.
Ed Carpenter, vice president, TRW Asia Pacific, said: “We believe that it is inevitable that the Chinese market will require increasingly higher safety standards.”
