The Passenger Car Association has reported a 14% rise in passenger vehicle sales for the Chinese market compared to June 2013.

The Association, as quoted by Bloomberg, says some 1.47 million vehicles were sold last month. June’s rise lifts the market for the first half of the year to 9.09 million passenger vehicles, an 11% rise year on year.

Various manufacturers have announced their own sales results, including General Motors (+9.1% to 257,798), Ford (+17% to 87,783) and Toyota (-7.6% but no total, though it should be noted that relevant plants stopped building the Corolla in May to make way for build of the new shape model).

Wholesale totals for the top-ten passenger car makers in June:

1. FAW-Volkswagen: 152,714

2. Shanghai-Volkswagen: 134,508
